|Rhythm of Light (1999)
by Charles Kim
Rhythm of Light was performed at 3:45pm on New Year's Eve, to accompany the "lighting of the square." It was at this time, when the final dusk of the 20th century began to settle in, that the theatrical lighting in the square was turned on for the first time.
This was also the hour that countries in the Middle East, East Africa, and Eastern Europe were celebrating the arrival of midnight, 2000, so Rhythm of Light was intended as a musical journey through those regional cultures.
